“It matters what matters we use to think other matters with; it matters what stories we tell to tell other stories with; it matters what knots knot knots, what thoughts think thoughts, what descriptions describe descriptions, what ties tie ties. It matters what stories make worlds, what worlds make stories.” Donna Haraway

Who works how, with what means and in what context? How does one organise artistic work – collectively or hierarchically? Where does the material originate? Which role does gender play? What about politics? Is there a network? When is the time for (self-)care? What does feminism mean as a political and artistic practice? “A feminist guide to nerdom” is an artistic research project in which the Swoosh Lieu collective discusses modes of operation, methods and strategies in the area of performance and media art with other feminist artists. From these encounters, an audio-visual online archive has been compiled, and first knots and connections in a network of feminist artists in the areas of new media and theatre have been tied. Because Feminist Nerdom also means questioning traditional connections of gender roles and fields of work in a queer-feminist approach, and to reshape them.

At www.feminist-nerdom.org, you may find the first steps of an attempt to lay out a net of feminism and art, theory and practice. The work on this website as well as the different materials that emerged in this process will be documented in a video installation.
