The Agency deals with extremism and radicalisation in the internet’s filter bubbles and echo chambers. How do algorithms contribute to discrimination? What part does a body of thought that originated in digital spaces such as “4chan” or “Breitbart News” play in the emergence and exercise of violence – online as well as offline? BOYS SPACE is an immersive performance in the work cycle “Neue Männer*bewegung” (“New Men’s* Movement”). It is also, simultaneously, a server on the group chat app Discord, in which the spectators* organize themselves for their exit from patriarchy. Online as well as offline, an alternative space comes up, geared towards enabling the exit from patriarchal maleness. “Boys Will Be Boys” has lost its dogmatic value here. Spectators* encounter one another as “male characters”, meeting their “empathy partners”, listening for the confessions of other users*. They actively participate in the creation of the BOYS SPACE.

Tickets for “Boys Space” are only available from September 1 in the online presale at fft-duesseldorf.reservix.de until 1 pm on the day of the performance.  The performance will take place online via the chat program Discord. The Agency
THE AGENCY is a young performance group that experiments with manifestations of neo-liberalism through immersive modes. Their performances, in which spectators* become gently embedded as, for example, customers* or future members*, circle around subversive agency under the conditions of post-digitalism: How do our desires, our emotions, our identities and political movements form in the post-digital era? And how is it possible, considering these conditions, to enact counter-emotions, counter-identities, counter-movements? The artistic works take up neo-liberally connotated formats (such as coaching) and their aesthetic strategies such as branding or corporate identity, subjecting the inherent institutionalised technologies of the self to a critically-affirmative overwinding – and struggle towards a utopian potential from a queer-feminist perspective. THE AGENCY was founded by Belle Santos, Yana Thönnes, Magdalena Emmerig and Rahel Spöhrer.
