Forget what you know: Foreign lands begin just a couple of streets away. Two years after her extraordinary piece “Kirschgarten” (“Cherry Garden”) on Kiefernstraße, Marlin de Haan & Team are again drawn into the Düsseldorf cityscape. This time, they have devoted themselves to Henrik Ibsen’s “Die Frau vom Meer” (“The Lady From The Sea”): Ellida is longing for the sea, for parts unknown. And for arrival, finally. She is a spouse, an ex-lover, a stepmother, a woman – and she does not yet know whether she wants to stay. But what is it, even, that makes us stay? How do we live, in and with foreign lands? How much proximity will we allow? Together, Marlin de Haan & Team research identities, scrutinise codes and customs of the city, of humans, of theatre, in their version of “The Lady From The Sea”. Where? This is still to be announced.
