“I wanted to make a piece about fear and the result is a piece about courage.” Since 2017, innumerable women have overcome their fears and made their experiences with abuse public under the hashtag #metoo. In doing so they triggered a long overdue discussion about sexualized violence. In Phobos, the Cooperativa Maura Morales finds an answer to the question of: what comes after the fear? Morales sets a fierce collective statement to counteract the individual trauma. Five dancers reclaim sovereignty of their own bodies and stories as they demonstrate how multiple individual experiences of fear can turn into shared source of courage.
