“Energy yes, quality no“. Under this motto, performers Montserrat Gardó Castillo and Petr Hastik hurl themselves together with musician Timm Roller into their performance concert, which attempts to do nothing less than capture the lifestyle of a generation. What did Kurt Kobain and grunge mean to teenagers at the time? Are there parallels to trap, a current form of pop music? Both styles of music are expressions of disillusioned youth and both value creativeness over ability. “The Future Was Us” is a homage to Generation Grunge and today’s urban music culture.
A Montse Gardó and Petr Hastik production. Coproduced by the FFT Düsseldorf. Funded by the NRW Ministry for Culture and Science, the Kunststiftung NRW and the Cultural Department of the City of Düsseldorf.
